My weekend started out okay and then it went to hell in a hand basket. I did great on my eating and what happen does not have anything to do with my diet. A few weeks ago I was contacted by my half brother that I have not seen since my biological father died when I was in my 30's. It was great to hear from him and we talked and emailed several times over the last few weeks. He lived in Dallas and had just gotten out of the military a couple of years ago and was working. He lost his job a couple of weeks ago and he was a little depressed or so I thought. He killed his self Friday night with an overdose of pain pills. This blew my mind when I found out Sunday morning. He was only 40 years old and I did not know he was that depressed over losing his job. This has just floored me in so many ways and I do not know why or what could drive someone so young to take their own life. I am headed to Pensacola on the 4th of January for the service and I hope to be able to find out more about what happened.

This is terrible. How sad that he couldn't just hold on until things got better--as they always tend to do. So sad. I wonder if he'd been dealing with stuff for a while...but not telling people...

I, too, am so sorry for your loss. I was thinking about this today after a friend of mine told me that she called the Suicide Prevention Line yesterday -- after she took a lot of pills...so many are so sad at this time of year and anything can make things worse. It really makes me sad.

Oh Debbie, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am glad that you will be able to go to the service; hopefully it will enable you to find some closure. Again, so sorry for you loss.

I am so sorry for what has happened. Something this heartbreaking can derail you so easily from your goals (and rightlyfully so) Just remember to hold those you have close and keep yourself strong!
