Wednesday 11-10-10 Time to step on the scales.

Wow Wednesday seems to come around really fast these days.  I am hoping to have lost at least 2 more lbs, but I will settle for any loss.  What I do is work on small goals like the stars they give you at Weight Watchers for every 5 lbs you lose.  I have 6 and I am working on my 7th star with Weight Watchers.  When I started I had already lost 16 lbs on my own so I have lost a total of 47 lbs so far.  I aim for small goals so that I do not get discouraged and quit.  This has worked for me and so has Weight Watchers.  I can live with this the rest of my life if I have to, because I can have anything I want as long as I stay within my point range.   I am not a calorie counter, although some of you guys have done amazing counting calories.   I think we have to find our own way to do this and what works for me may not work for someone else.

This has been a crazy week and again not much exercise this week, but I am hoping when my schedule settles down that I will be able to start.   My sister will be turning 50 Friday and it is so hard to believe that we are getting that old.  I can remember when we use to fight all the time.  I talk to her at least once a week and I have started making a point of calling her.   We are having a party for her on Friday night at my nieces house so it should be fun.

Okay I have a question for everyone and it is about food.  Name one food from when you were young that you think about now and wonder how in the hell I ate that.  Mine is a french fry sandwich with ketchup that my cousin Glenn use to make me when I was in the first grade.  You take 2 pieces of bread and fry up some good old homemade french fries, drown them in ketchup and put them between the bread.  OMG I think about it now and wonder how in the hell I ate that, because I do not even like ketchup very much.  Think about it when you were you about what you would eat, verses now.  I loved raw wieners when I was young, you know the good old cheap red ones.  I could eat a whole pack of them when I was little.  Not now though because of what is in them.  The funny thing is they did not hurt me when I was little it was only after I learn to read the ingredients that I quit eating them.

Here is yesterday's food journal and I am going to try and read a few posts before lunch is over.  Have a great day and wish me luck with my weigh in.

Your french fry sandwich was better than what my brother and I used to make...ketchup and butter sandwiches. That was all that was on them ketchup and butter...ewww! That's the worst thing I can think of right now...

Good luck with the weigh in!! I can't think of anything I ate as a kid that I don't still think sounds good now! What can I say....

Debbie: I have learned over the years that while food diaries help, the real moment of decision is IN THE SUPERMARKET when we buy the stuff and bring it home, and when we DECIDE to eat it! Writing it down is not magical...deciding to eat healthy is, and it works even if you don't write it down!

You're doing so well, Debbie. I hope you get that star tonight. You're right we've got to find the right plan for ourselves and work that plan to be successful. Is WW changing their points to something else. Someone mentioned that to me and I can't imagine fixing something that ain't broke.

I was such a finiky eater when I was a kid that I never ate anything weird ... in fact I didn't eat much of anything and maybe that's why I didn't have a weight problem until I was older.

Goood LUCK!!!
I really can't recall anything, except for the horrible frozen oncor meals my mom used to make...blech....alhtough I never liked them. I swore, when I grew up and had my own family I would NEVER feed them those, and I have stuck to my word! IDK if you can even still buy them.

I am liking your positive, steady-as-she-goes attitude in this post. You are doing great, and you are right to stick with what works for you...i hate counting calories too but sometimes it helps me get back on track after going off-plan, but generally i am aware of what is going in my body and whether it is healthy or not.

Food i ate as a youngster? I used to love microwaving cheese until it melted and was bubbling like crazy, then let it cool and solidify for a minute, then eat it - disgusting, huh?! I just used to love the chewy, cheesy texture.
